W.O.A.L.E.S* to Invade Queensbury, NY April 8-10

Seasonal settlement within the Adirondacks inevitable

Queensbury, New York— As one of the worst winters in recent memory comes to an end, annual migration of W.O.A.L.E.S* to the Adirondacks heralds the return of summer.

They may be referred to as “weekend warriors”, but the latest handle for the drove of consumers who ply the lanes of I-87 each summer weekend in search of sanctuary should be “WOALES”—well-off-Adirondack-living-enthusiasts; and a projected 12,000 WOALES will converge on the Adirondack Sports Complex in Queensbury for the 22nd Adirondack Living Show, “a celebration of camps, Adirondack art, and rustic living.

To the hundreds of thousands of consumers who have attended Adirondack Living Shows over the past 8 years, this event is a celebration of their lifestyle. “Thankfully, we’re not a home show and we’re not effected by the “R” word or sub-prime mortgage issues” proclaims Adirondack Living Show Executive producer Jeff Fraser. “The shows’ popularity over the past 8 years mirrors the growth of “woale” spending in the Adirondacks and can be further attributed to the uniqueness of the shows’ theme. It’s really a niche event catering to a growing segment of our population who appreciate the quality of life that is associated with camp, chalet and country home ownership. We unite the very best vendors with the most discerning customers possible”.

Over 130 exhibits showcasing thousands of products and services indigenous to Adirondack living will be on hand for three days this April 20-22 within the 98,000 square foot Adirondack Sports Complex (“The Dome”) , exit 18 off I-87.

Among them will be an impressive display of rustic furnishings and a veritable who’s who of craftsmen, artists, waterfront specialists and service providers catering to vacation homeowners.

Statistically, WOALES* provide great economic benefit to the summer economy of their respective vacation towns & counties. Many local businesses, particularly rustic furniture makers, depend on WOALE spending May through September, to counter the desolate, cash starved winter months.

On average, WOALES are the “economic cream of the crop”, controlling the wealth, discretionary spending and savings in this country. Typically, they are in “middle-essence” (45-65), college educated homeowners with at least one vacation property; some fortunate enough to have a second. By virtue of owning two or three properties, WOALES are in need of many more products and services than the average mortal; a fact that makes them a much sought after consumer. They hail from all parts of NY, many from NYC, as well as MA, NJ, VT, NH and even PA.  As millions of baby boomers and empty nesters near retirement, many have plans to sell their primary residence in suburbia and parlay the resulting equity into a four-season lakefront oasis. The result, many more years of “boom” in the otherwise troubled building and renovation market to the North, higher real estate prices, particularly lakefront, and a solid platform on which to expand the Adirondack Living Show brand. “The beauty of this show is that it celebrates an Adirondack lifestyle” Fraser continued. “And just like your education, no one can ever take that away from you…ever!”

Show hours: Friday 1pm-8pm; Sat. 10am-6pm; Sun. 10am-3pm. Free onsite parking for 450 vehicles. General Admission $9.00 (discounted tickets online)
